There are different possibilities, Ferry-boat or Catamaran: The Ferry is the most popular way to go to the island. It costs around 2 US$ per person (by feet). It leaves the suburb "São Joaquim" in Salvador approximately every 90 minutes and takes one hour to cross. |

These solid, wooden boats need only 40 minutes to cross
to the island
and departures every 30 minutes during the day.
From the
arrival in Mar Grande to the guesthouse go by taxi.
By road (from the
south):
The roat BR-101 comes from the south of Bahia,
passws Nazaré das Farinhas
and arrives at Itaparica Island by crossing a
bridge, linking the island to the mainland.
From there it´s 20 miles more to
the main intersection Mar Grande – Itaparica town.
Take a left, in the
direction of the town of Itaparica.
At the entrance of the town is a sign
showing turn to the right to Ponta de Areia and the beach.
By airplane:
There is a small airport in the middle of the island.
It´s possible to organize flights to or from here with
private airplanes.
On the Island are many taxis and public kombis for easy and convenient transports.
